Position Description:
As one of four academic divisions within the UCLA College, the Division of Humanities encompasses a wide variety of departments and centers committed to excellence in engaged, innovative and inclusive research and teaching. The more than 200 faculty members in the division, working alongside scores of specialized lecturers, talented graduate students, and dedicated staff, carry on the age-old human project of interpreting the world's legacy of language, literature, and art and introducing it to new generations of young people. Our departments, research centers and interdepartmental programs represent the investment of the people of California and of hundreds private donors in the grand project of understanding and teaching the human heritage in all its diversity. As the Director of Development, you will be an essential part of raising funds for our continued excellence.

Working closely with the Executive Director of Development for Humanities and Undergraduate Education, you will plan and implement a strong, proactive major gift program that reflects the academic priorities of the Humanities. You will be responsible for identifying, qualifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding major individual prospects. Working closely with the division's faculty and Dean of Humanities, you will and gain knowledge of research interests and areas of expertise, determine market feasibility for academic priorities and provide development advice and counsel, in collaboration with the other members of the Division of Humanities' development team. You will use available data to develop constituencies and identify prospects in relation to academic priorities; organize and conduct meetings of volunteers and donors designed to identify new prospective donors for private support; and create additional vehicles and methods for identifying new prospects. In addition, you will also establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with appropriate individuals and offices in UCLA College and throughout External Affairs.
