The Georgetown Medical Humanities Initiative seeks adjunct instructors to teach core and elective courses in the Medical Humanities Program in the Georgetown University College of Arts & Sciences during AY 2024-2025.
We especially encourage (in order or priority): teaching core courses, developing new elective courses, and team teaching. Approved courses will be eligible for senior undergraduate, graduate, or medical student TAs.

Core Medical Humanities courses are: Introduction to Medical Humanities (MHUM 1101), Methods in Medical Humanities (MHUM 2202), and Senior Seminar in Medical Humanities (MHUM 4960).
Example Medical Humanities Electives include: Medicine and the Muse (MHUM 2275), Literature of AIDS and Pandemics (MHUM 3310), Death in America (MHUM 3302). Example cross-listed MHUM courses in other primary units or programs include: Global Health History (HIST/BIOL), Performance & Pandemic (TPST), Intro to Medical Anthropology (ANTH), Sociology of Health/Illness (SOCI).
Example Medical Humanities courses in the Medical Center include: Deep Dives (Living and Dying) and Selectives (Ethics of Research, Introduction to Medical Humanities).

Qualifications
Candidates should possess a doctoral degree (MD, PhD in humanities or social sciences discipline) and should have expertise in and have taught and/or published on the medical humanities broadly defined (including but not limited to literature and medicine, narrative medicine, history of health and medicine, medical anthropology, medical sociology, science and technology studies, visual and performing arts and health).
